21 minute mark is my favorite stretch of the river.

My dad use to be caretaker at keyes canoe rental and campground before it was ozark outdoors. We lived at the entrance of the campground . As a kid we took all the floats we wanted . I love this ten mile stretch. Makes me miss home and brought back some wonderful memories. I appreciate this so much .

Nevermind i see hinch rock at the 16 minute mark. I dont remember the other place at the 8 minute mark i dont guess. I recall every year someone drowning or injured at hinch rock .

I don't know how old you are or how familiar with this section of the river you may be ..but has the meramec gotten smaller over the last several years ?

I was wondering if around the 8 minute mark is that hinch rock /hinch bluff? If so its changed drastically since when i was a kid .

scouted out the Riverside Landing Park yesterday (May 20 2024). The park has added a kayak boat launch so you don't have to launch from the boat launch or from the muddy shore anymore. They have done a great job! Going back again later this summer.

just bought my wife & I kayaks and went for our first rodeo in Warrenton (private lake) last weekend. were prepping and learning for a fishing/camping trip down the Meramec. Someone told me about this place and after seeing this, WE ARE GOING THIS WEEKEND!

Mr. Hancock is as integral to the Secretariat story as anyone. A charming and quiet spoken man who tells a fine story.

I recorded this on my phone but it would not let me share it. So thank you for sharing it with us. I went to Paris because of the Park Dedication. It was a last minute decision but it turned out to be a great trip for many reasons but if for no other reason listening to Seth made the drive from Fort Worth to Paris well worth the trip. Thank you again for sharing.

This is the World's longest running WWII re-enactment. It seems a pity that today the 2024 JB WWII Days event is in jeopardy. Rumor has it a new park official does not want one of our WWIIHRS oldest German units to participate. How can you play cops and robbers with no robbers? I have attended every such event at JB and am the founder of the WWII HRS, Inc. It will be sad to see an almost half-century tradition die because some knucklehead.

Wonderful speech by Mr. Hancock. Marvelous that Secretariat has been honored with a Park & Statue in Paris, KY where he lived at Claiborne Farm following his racing days. His story was, and remains, extraordinary. Secretariat was a gift, still bringing joy & wonder to all who learn about him. Never to be forgotten ❤️🌈

Had a great time. Bankheads Battery was on the Confederate left and we had a ball. Gonna call this one DUSTLOH though. When I got home and shook out my wool uniform, all the dust and stuff coming out looked like PIGPEN from Charlie Brown cartoon!

the first bronze cannon that was wheeled back was from Michigan. 2ed michigan Hudson Artillery. first time that gun was out of Michigan since the civil war.
